2011 Aquaboxes still being usedImmediately following the disastrous floods and outbreak of water borne diseases, such as cholera, in Cambodia during November and December 2011, 108 Aquaboxes were sent to the Rotary Club of Phnom Phen for distribution to the victims of the floods. Advice has recently been received from Peter Gray, President of that Rotary Club, that Aquaboxes are still in use in the Baray District, providing sustainable sources of clean water - almost 9 months since they were delivered. Along with the usual "Aquabox Gold" which have a capability of producing over 200 litres of clean water, a number of "Aquabox 30" were sent in 2011. These "30's" have sufficient filters and purifying tablets to produce over 30,000 litres of clean water and are particularly successful in schools and clinics ensuring clean water for children and substantially reducing the risk of water borne disease. Aquabox (Australia), through the RC of Phnom Phen, continues to monitor the situation in that country and is preparing for the predicted flooding again this year. Tell A FriendTell a Friend |
