Aquabox to pre-locate aid in CambodiaAquabox has commenced a strategy of pre-locating Aquaboxes in disaster prone areas within our region, to ensure that the aid reaches disaster victims as quickly as possible. Volunteers from the Rotary Club of Eltham have packed the first consignment of 120 Aquaboxes for despatch overseas by sea. Following advice of a strong likelihood for a repeat of last year's disastrous floods, the Aquaboxes will be stored in Cambodia by the Rotary Club of Phnom Phen for distribution to victims in their region. The storage of Aquaboxes in Cambodia will enable the Rotarians in that country to ensure the aid is distributed within days of a disaster instead of the weeks it normally takes to get them into the country. The volunteers from Eltham Rotary spent several days packing the Aquaboxes with the water purification and aid equipment. The consignment is expected to arrive in Phnom Phen via Vietnam in the middle of July this year. Aquaboxes are also being stored in the Eltham warehouse in Australia for immediate distribution to any other disaster where we can assist. Tell A FriendTell a Friend |
